IPL 2020, Match 19: RCB vs DC – Preview

In quest of their fourth win of Dream11 Indian Premier League (IPL) 2020, Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) will square off against Delhi Capitals (DC) at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium on Monday.

RCB started their campaign on a winning note against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) before losing against Kings XI Punjab (KXIP). However, the Virat Kohli-led unit bounced back in style and registered two back-to-back wins. First, they defeated Mumbai Indians (MI) in a Super Over-thriller and in their fourth game, sealed a comprehensive win against Rajasthan Royals (RR).

DC too made a winning start to their IPL 2020 journey after beating KXIP in a Super Over. The Shreyas Iyer-led side won their second game on the bounce, defeating Chennai Super Kings (CSK) by 44 runs. However, in their third game, DC were toppled by Sunrisers Hyderabad. But the side returned to winning ways after beating Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in their last game.

A win in tonight’s game, will propel one of the teams to the top of the points table and here are the players who could play a decisive role to make it happen.

Virat Kohli

The RCB skipper did not score too many in his first three outings in the IPL 2020, but Virat Kohli returned to form and did so in some style against RR. The right-hander scored a match-winning 72* off 53 balls and went past 5500 IPL runs. Virat will be looking forward to having an encore of his performance against RR when RCB take on DC.

Shreyas Iyer

Shreyas Iyer was clearing the fence for fun during his 88-run unbeaten blitz against KKR. The DC captain hit 7 fours and 6 sixes in his 38-ball stay in the middle. While the venue for RCB’s game is not Sharjah, Iyer will be eager to continue in the same vein.

Devdutt Padikkal

Devdutt Padikkal continued to impress in his maiden IPL season after scoring his third fifty from four matches against RR. The left-hander, opening the batting, scored 63 off 45 balls and played a pivotal role in RCB’s third win of the season. RCB will want the youngster to come good as they seek their fourth win.

Anrich Nortje

While Kagiso Rabada is doing his bit for DC, Anrich Nortje has not been too far behind. The right-arm pacer picked up three wickets and was the pick of the bowlers for DC as they beat KKR. Iyer will rely on his bowling as his side takes on the might of Kohli, AB de Villiers, Aaron Finch and Davdutt Padikkal.

Yuzvendra Chahal

With 8 wickets against his name, Yuzvendra Chahal is jointly holding the top spot in the list of the leading wicket-takers in IPL 2020. The wily leg-spinner picked up his second three-wicket haul to set up RCB’s win over RR. It will be fascinating to witness how he gets about his game against the big-hitters like Prithvi Shaw, Iyer, Shikhar Dhawan and Rishabh Pant.

Wild Card

Harshal Patel

While the batsmen from both the teams went after the bowlers, Harshal Patel was one of the most economical bowlers in the DC versus KKR game. The all-rounder also picked up two wickets in his four overs, conceding 34 runs. As DC take on RCB, who have a battery of big-hitters, Harshal will be looking to put up another fine show.
